Any specific areas of interest: fasm, assembly, CPU, FPU, SSE, AVX, linking, IDE, DOS, Windows, *nix? There are many areas that are topics on this board.

Maybe one of the FAQ pages can help, in those are many links to resources.

I know this is several months old, but if you are still looking for learning material, i found this book that covers Assembly programming using the Flat Assembler (FASM).

The book is called "Mastering Assembly Programming" by Alexey Lyashko, and it's one of the only books i could find that uses FASM to teach assembly programming, also it's modern so it covers AVX-512 and SSE. There is dedicated examples for using with Windows and Linux as well. The book is about 290 pages so it's not that big, but it also isn't entirely comprehensive just by skimming the table of contents. I would recommend reading it to learn FASM, and then when you want something more in depth, you could look at "Assembly Language for x86 Processors" by Kip Irvine, but that book only targets MASM, but you'd probably only want to learn more about the language in that book rather than the MASM assembler.

The book can be purchased on Amazon for $58 AUD (Australian), so just check and see how much it is in your country, might be cheaper on Ebay if you don't mind second hand books (i don't mind). Alternatively, if you want a PDF version, i have attached the link to Anna's archive for the book in question so you can view it. But like all books in digital format, i would encourage you to see if you like it digitally, and then support the author by purchasing a real copy, hope this all helps.

Edit: Also, i believe this is the exact same book Tomasz Grysztar references in this post "Unused foreword for an assembly book" here https://board.flatassembler.net/topic.php?t=21553

No, that was another book, one that ended up without my participation.

But "Mastering Assembly Programming" actually had me involved, and you can find me credited there as a reviewer. Looking back at it, I regret I had not been able to dedicate more time to it, as my work was very shallow.

Ah alright, thanks for the reply! If you don't mind, what was the name of that book as well? I will take practically any source of information that expands on how to learn and use your Assembler.

I'm brand new to coding and fasmg is the first thing I want to learn. The most useful tutor so far for me is AI. I've been using it in the browser so it can't touch my files until very recently, when a friend helped me set up claude code in a podman. I started by asking it to write a short, easy program that I wanted to exist, and then having it explain each thing, line by line, instruction by instruction, to me.

I still can't claim that I know fasmg yet, but i'm fluent in two human languages, so I'm trying to approach it like that. I can now look at fasmg, and at least say, "That's an asm". I can look at jmp and know that's jump. cli is clear interupt flag and not command line interface.

I was interested in fasm before, because I love minimalism and small things, and the cross-architecture possibilities of fasmg fascinate me, but it was finding the AI tutorial method of having it write a small program I wanted for Kolibri OS, and then having it explain the entire thing to me line by line, that seemed to make it start to click for me.
