If average C programmer is not concerned about
*a++ *= b + c
not being equivalent to
*a++ = *a++ * b + c
it's a problem. May be he/she is not even average? Wink

And I definitely will prefer RotateThroughCarryLeft(eax, 5) over eax [[ CARRY 5; — former is lengthy somewhat, but brevity obscures latter.

How about going Unicode?
eax ♀← 5; // rcl eax, 5
eax ♂← 5; // rol eax, 5

I definitely would prefer "rcl eax,5", or if one insists upon C-like punctuation "rcl(eax,5)"
