i am afraid it differs with each (family) of graphic cards. That's why we need drivers.

If the drivers where open-source - we could extract translatsion tables from these sources and use in assembly. Easy? But what BIG company would be stupid enough to give you full access to their card?
Maybe some day...maybe some day...when 6600GT is "so old and slow" you can order some specs from nVidia |

I always wanted to know how to program drivers.. aren't there any open-source documented video drivers? code and specs??? maybe an old card? i only wanna see a driver example |

it's a relief for me I know C, then
i thought you have to use asm in and out instructions to make it work? anyway, more simple drivers, just as a start? thanks alot ps: don't bother very much, i'll search for Linux drivers |
