Don't you think it's kind of a waste to use 900k of a floppy just for a background image? Personally I started using some really neat tiled backgrounds. Those sizes are way less and they work better...more room for development and apps. The other day I tried to load up a 256 color bitmap and was really disappointed because I didn't know that wouldn't work. I might have to check more into why that doesn't work and fix the code.

I dont use a floppy; I use the floppy image ( well, msetup.exe ) to boot from the harddisk.

I agree with your point though, it's a waste to have a floppy disk with a 900K image!

Your 256 colour image will not work because the image loader expects 3 bytes per pixel. If there is enough interest I could look at a converter that will load a 256 colour image...

In the file format is says this:

"The biBitCount member of the BITMAPINFOHEADER structure determines the number
of bits that define each pixel and the maximum number of colors in the
bitmap."

Wouldn't be too hard of a fix to detect that and adjust a few variables accordingly.

I know it's a little harder then what I just said, might take a little work, but shouldn't be too bad...I'm going to download the C Library, the screen shots of the things made with it look promising. That should be the thing the web browser is developed with.
