First time writing a Kernel

Hi, I'm new to this forum, I've frequently used other programming languages and I love a challenge so I've decided to write my own 16 bite operating system. Something, I've dreamy about doing for quite sometime. It would be a project for my kids and I. Something, that can be used as a teaching tool. What i'm trying to ask is there an examples I can find? I've tried Github and found a bunch written in assembly but not in FASM.

Isn’t OSDev all about writing it on your own instead of copy-pasting one’s code from github?

wiki.osdev.org seems to be the most useful reference on most topics related to OSDev. The rest is your programming experience.

There's MikeOS already. The code is for NASM, which shouldn't be a problem (NASM itself or its syntax, which is very close to FASM's).
