Bootsector loads kernel.mnt to 0x1000:0 and config.mnt to 0x5400:0 and then executes a jmp to 0x1000:0 in 16bit mode. So kernel expects to find config.mnt at 0x5400:0. Of course, also other loader applications can do these steps.
OK, thanks Ville. Another question, maybye someone knows: On my machine (HP Pro i5 Windows 7) I cant boot from USB. I have heard, I must change something in BIOS (not only the boot order). What should I do to boot from usb stick
No reply? So I guess there is no easy answer (if any). This guy that told me I must change something in BIOS to boot correctly from USB maybye are wrong... Maybye it is machine and its BIOS dependent. But I wonder, nowdays is produced computer that cant boot from USB. I think is basic thing, but maybye its my mistake ...
if your are using win7 32bit, i am very sure your bios boot process is not set to uefi,
you must disable secure boot also, some bios only allow you to disable and enable legacy boot only after you set up your supervisor password, you can just key in 123 or etc numbers (please write down because you need it later if you want to modify)
try find "legacy support" and enable it,
you should see uefi boot order, and legacy boot order,
i never yet try booting menuet os in real device, i usually test them in virtual environment, eg. using virtualbox, http://www.virtualbox.org or vm workstation / player
another thing to note, if your bios is booting uefi right now into win7 64 bit, after you finish testing menuet os, you must set it back as previously defined parameters, secureboot on, legacy disabled
booting uefi usually require your hard disk partition in GPT type, the traditional is MBR, i don't think menuet support GPT partitions yet, i could be wrong, the safe way would be using MBR in your thumbdrive
Thanks for your advices, I disable in bios secure boot from front usb ports, and I can boot. The problem was in boot menu my usb stick was written as empty characters chain (text string filled spaces only), and I can't easy saw this.... And now I try other system than MenuetOS - it dont works with boot software I have.
