Whew, it's just a few days until Athlon64 will be released, and I don't have a good 64-bit assembler to actually compile my newly started 64-bit OS Smile

NAsm doesn't support AMD64 yet, YAsm does support it, but has some really annoying issues...

Privalov, I know you are working hard, and I don't want to rush you, but could please at least give a hint when could we expect to get 64-bit support for FAsm?

I wouldn't want to code the OS manually Very Happy
(and I don't currently have time to code my own assembler / add support for some existing one...)

Well, maybe I just have to resort to YAsm for the time beeing, although it's quite unfinnished.

Keep up the good work Wink

Well, it seems it's high time to start it. But I still don't have AMD x86-64 manuals in the handy form - well, it seems I'll have to just print them, as all my tries to get them in the book form from AMD were unsuccessful (in oposite to Intel).

I read somewhere that AMD send free books only to USA customers. Why not simply to ask some friend from USA to order the books and to send them to you via Post office. AFAIK, it is very cheap, if he declare that the package contains books.

Regards.

Fasm with support for x86-64 would be cool! Cool ...I hope you get the books without any big problems Wink (but promise me to not rush yourself too much, that's not necessary - it's only programming, you know Very Happy)

I really look forward to the new feature! Wink

So long! Take care!

Regards,
Tommy

It won't be just a new feature - it should be the whole new version of fasm. Several versions ago I have moved all x86-specific stuff into X86.INC file, so I can just make separate file for x86-64 as a replacement for it.
