Hi. I'm writing a report/paper/presentation/whatever you want to call it on MenuetOS for my operating system design class at university. However, in browsing the documentation on the MenuetOS homepage, I've noticed there are quite a few gaps in coverage. At least, I would like more information about a number of components so I can cover them adequetly in my report. I hope you guys don't mind me asking, and will be able to give me some information Smile

1. What are the technical specs of the HTTP, E-Mail, and ShoutCast servers included with Menuet? How many concurrent connections can they handle, etc?

2. How does MeOS handle memory management? Paged or non-paged? Details I could write about?

3. What are the plans for future development of MeOS? Do you expect it to always fit on a single floppy disk?

4. Any other information that you feel would be useful for me to have when writing this report...additional sites I can go to for information, etc.

Thank you very much in advance....your answers will be a tremendous help. I would be happy to post my completed report here for you to read if you like.

I suppose, that not only I, but others too, can use MenuetOS for Data acquisition tasks.

Arguments:
a. Clear Kernel available in source form
b. Flat assembler is available too.
c. Older PC with ISA slots are available, cheap with sufficient HW resources
d. RS232 and packet data transfer "primer" is in current distibution
e. TFTPclient is ready for use

That is all.

Each of the applications can handle one connection at a time. Though you can start multiple instances of the same application to handle simultaneous connections.

Non-paged. You could look at the 'memory usage' -application at system menu for runtime memory mapping.

I'd like to see the basic components ( kernel, gui ) small enough to fit in a floppy. Applications ( and kernel ) can be installed to a hd or ata-flash memory stick already.
