Virus Total really good for checking cracks... err I mean, suspicious files Laughing

I don't have an AV, just a good firewall.

Panda now has Panda Cloud which uses Cloud computing.

I wonder if anyone ever tried that. Rolling Eyes

I'm using Avast! Home Edition Antivirus. It's free, but it is necessary to register before.
Avast! consists of independent modules which can be turned on/off.
Btw all my fasm programs work fine with Avast!, no false alarms so far.

A good AV comparison is:

Code:
http://www.av-comparatives.org/

Code:
virusscan.jotti.org/
www.virustotal.com/
http://www.viruschief.com/
http://virscan.org/

There is another one but I am forgetting it :s I know a lot of people in the malware scene use it as you don't have to distribute the file.

Also make sure you hvae a good firewall. That should stop things like API hooking etc (but not kernel mode drivers, or in some cases userland ones). I recommend Jetico. You have a hell of a lot of popups to begin with, but it really shows you whats going on with packets quite well.

antimalwarebytes
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

thumbs up and really worth buying!!

i usually use hijackthis and antimalwarebytes + avira 9 to solve my 90% customer virus problem.

10% is too strong virus that run even before windows runs.

avast is a virus, not an antivirus. why? just because it consumes a lot of the machine power ( like a virus), does things without the acknoledge of the user (like a virus too), and takes a lot of personnal infos just to makes a better "usage database", (like a virus).

ho yeah, avast is a virus, that claims itself as an antivirus... cool, but the best antivirus is and will always be the USER of the MACHINE.

How do you define "best" here?

If AV is free -- its quality is questionable.

Yes, that is true. But you can also remove the word "free" and it will still be true.

best = works and works better compare to other AV that works. (depend on perspective)

you could check their score here,
http://www.av-test.org/en/tests/test-reports/janfeb-2012/

how true is that i don't know, but the idea is there.

I like kaspaerky, I find it very good at what it does, and I have no speed issues with it, It's faster than nortan (which I disklike because it has lousy protection, I used it for 6 months before switching to AVG free to find I had 3 viruses nortan had over looked.)

AVG free is good, for what it is, cheap.

I've had a pretty good experience with COMODO. But I just use Microsoft Security Essentials.
