...okay, so now I've got a new computer (HP 2.6GHz with Vista),
and when I boot to DOS using a CD it can't see the harddrive.
Also, protected mode programs like Kelvar and Heretic wont run at all.
Your thoughts?

Usually DOS use INT 13H as interface to HardDisk, therefore problems
with ATA/SATA controller is leave out.
Note that DOS know only FAT12/16/32 but not NTFS file system, unless
you use appropriate driver

I did split it off.

All partitions or the only one on your HD is probably NTSC exactly as DJ wrote Smile So you will miss the partitions but the HD is still there - try WDE disk editor or IDEcheck . There are a few "NTSC4DOS" or "NTSCDOS" things - but I don't use them, sorry.

Your thoughts?

They must run. (except Tomasz's 32-bit unreal mode that "could" fail, see FAQ).

1. What DOS ?
2. Try my image. (VESA, VESATEST, MD5 are PM ... KZIP might not work)

Also, if you intend to deal with DOS you should have DOS: install

Description: 7-ZIP
Download
Filename: EDR.ZIP
Filesize: 565.78 KB
Downloaded: 72 Time(s)

When trying to extract EDR.ZIP I get "Please insert the last disk of the Multi-Volume set and click OK to continue."

...um, yes, of course I have...now. I'll try again...

PS DJ:
Of Value, is it better to have, or to have not?
For with Knowledge, one sees what they have;
with Imagination, what they have not.

At the bottom of your messages you have included a statement,
which apparently changes from time to time.
In the previous message you had:
"Imagination is better than Knowledge."
I presumed you made the statement, so addressed a response to you.
