Virtual Sound Blaster v2.02
This is a program written by Andrew Zabolotny a long time ago when few people owned Sound Blaster's but many had Covoxes and similar things. It will emulate a real Sound Blaster (1.x) on PC-Speaker or on a Covox. The emulation is relatively accurate, but FM synthesizer is not supported, thus it will play only digital sound. It was tested on a number of DOS games. source code: http://cs.ozerki.net/zap/pub/vsb/ homepage (dead link): http://zap.eltrast.ru/en/frames.html download (dead link): http://zap.eltrast.ru/ http://zap.eltrast.ru/en/dldos.html http://zap.eltrast.ru/data/vsb202.zip

the same is available as "src.zip" in the source code link. vsb can be appreciated more if you have real speakers and not piezo disc beepers.
another one is "remus" by Roman Dolejsi. it is capable of emulating more soundcards and more output devices too. source not available. http://cd.textfiles.com/darkdomain/programs/dos/emulators/remus04g.zip |
