You can't simply reverse the arrows and prove such a silly thing. Heart ---> live ---> think, but the reverse is not necessarily true. How about Oxygen ---> live ---> think, therefore oxygen has thinking capabilities?!

Just don't say that my rubber doll Terra is a robot. I love her! Sad

I actually said the opposite (not reverse). Of course the reverse is not true. And of course I never said Oxygen has thinking capabilities, on the contrary I challenge IF the neurons are the ones who make the thinking capabilities rather than just perhaps sustain that (like the heart sustains the brain/life, but it doesn't mean it HAS the capability, or just like Oxygen, it sustains the body, but it doesn't mean it is the one which thinks!).

And of course in that article it was even POINTED out that it is a CLUE and perhaps neurons aren't the only thing (mind you: there could be examples where two completely different algorithms might provide the same 'functions' on the visible side but it's rarer!) that causes thinking. Yes they ARE required for thinking but the heart or oxygen are also required! Wink

Of course Wink

According to current scientific views the conscience is "located" in the central nervous system, mainly in the brain device.

By experiments it was determined that IF the brain does not work, or works partly or is damaged you loose conscience. However if the head is separated from the body then ... for a short while Very Happy ... it still appears to have a conscience.

If the brain is dead then you are theoretically dead although other organs (like heart, kidney, etc) might continue to work for a while (with external help).

The only question comes from people that apparently "know" what happened to them during surgery under complete anesthesia.

However there are known cases when anesthesia does not work for unknown reasons even if the body does not react to pain and maybe the brain does turn off just some parts but can at rare occasions keep active senses when it "should not".

Well "brain" may be more than just neurons and whatever else we know. Then again that still doesn't say if the neurons just sustain that or they actually represent such function.

Well I hope more people will look into this clue and maybe research it. A lot don't just because they don't like or want it. Then again another possible "proof" would be if we made a computer simulation of the brain ONLY with neurons and see if it still is a normal brain Razz
