hi, englishmen!
my daughter studies english at school and wrote "Home work", and teacher was connected parts and said it was wrong. Ok, but then "Class work" or "Classwork" should be? Razz I do not trust to teacher too much, as one of them said to my daughter "there is no such word: 'stool'", which i said to her before as it is a kind of chair Very Happy
thanks in advance Smile

I'm not a native english speaker, but I'm pretty sure "stool" is a word, it's even found in some games, so the teacher is bad.

Then, I also think homework (without the space) is more "correct" for some reason, because I see it used everywhere. Classwork too, it isn't underlined with the Firefox spellchecker, so it's valid.

And your daughter's teacher needs a spell checker to see that stool is in fact, a word Wink

EDIT: When in doubt, go to dictionary.com Wink

Greetings shoorick! You and your daughter are correct. Homework is correct as is Classwork.

As for "stool", yes it's a word. You have one meaning, a type of chair. The other meaning is most appropriate for your daughter's English teacher. "Stool" also means "shit", "merde", "scheiza", etc. It's the formal medical term for human solid waste.

Btw, great updated pictures of Cat Pot by Intel. I'm going to send a copy of that last one to my contacts at Intel. I'm sure they will appreciate it. Please pass my daughter's greetings to your daughter.

thanks a lot for the help and good reference Smile
about stool - in russian "chair" sounds exactly "stool", while english "stool" translated to russian "taburet" - as it appears funny, somebody thinks it is a kind of joke Smile of course, we have similar medical meaning of this word, as medical terms in different languages are often of same latin/greek descent.
