Can I have access to the PC mouse in anyway while in pure console mode (not in a window)? If so, how? Is there a way that can work on all or most Linux distros? Thanks

There is a way, thats for sure.. exactly how, thats a different matter.

I believe most distro's use /dev/psaux as the mouse device, so it may be possible to simply read from that and interpret it correctly.

There is a program called GPM http://unix.schottelius.org/gpm/ which allows a console-mode mouse, so again, if you read the source of it, you can find out how they do it and do the same.
