I want to know from FASM forum members: do you work with computers, as a programmer for example?
Or do you have some other career and just like programming?

I was a systems analyst / functional consultant / application developer many years ago. But now I am barely making a living in some other field. Sad

I do ASM programming to create some simple applications for my personal use. Cool

I lift heavy objects for a living (very healthy), but have worked as a VBA (yuck!) programmer in the past and even sold some of my own (x86 and 680x0 assembly) software.

My work has to do with office furniture & chairs. Production line on a daily panic mode.
However i did manage to make few bucks in the past doing some flash banners, footers e.t.c and i also sold for nothing a couple of my games source.

I just like programming.

No.

I use asm much in the same way as Victor. It's so much easier if you know most/all of the variables, you don't have to worry about which cpu/hardware/routines etc will be available and I only have to program to make me happy not everybody else. Seems a bit selfish but I don't think I'll ever be good enough to be a professional programmer, just seems too much of a headache to cover all of the different user scenarios in the real world. Sad

They all have their problems but I find the web dev stuff the more difficult because there's so many things going on at the same time.

220V~ ==> 24V @ 60A to feed the accumulator batteries along the iron way that feed the equipement that control the train traffic.

then, it's not computing, but pure analog design.

The picture looks so silly. Someone putting their hand on a book! Like that will make a difference. What will the book do if he lies?

I'm curious to know why you left the first time? Are those reasons for leaving still there now? I guess maybe not if you are returning.

i left this job because i was junky.
in fact, i didn't left it, but i was trowed away... bye bye mister drug...

now, i am more serious ( no drug since new year, thanks to all), and i feel able to handle responsabilities.

but it was just the first day, see later, in one month, if it is always ok.

all in all, my exeprience in asm, using fasm was appreciated, not for the technical tricks i've made, but because during the 2 years without job, my brain continued to work.

maybe after, i'll code in asm for pic in this power-supply project.
if somebody knows a better arch for this purpose, let me know.

Very Happy

@ edfed:

Glad to see you are on the up.

Using the PIC for small projects is a lot of fun. I have many projects that I have used them. The IDE from Microchip is very good also.

@ all
thank you.

i hope i will not lose it again.

one interresting thing:

if you code or concept something for your company, you don't have any right on it after.
then, it's pretty sure i will not give them my code style, or before, i'll put it in GPL or any licence.
