Don't know if I should be flattered or pissed. I've been using the handle for over 10 years and now someone else decides to use the same nick. Trying to reach him now to ask if he can use some other name.

Unfortunately we don't get any legal protection for our handles. I think the best way to get people to use 'your' handle is to publicly complain about others already using 'your' handle. It might seem paradoxical but probably the best way to stop it spreading is to ignore it.

And it might seem harsh of me to say but I hope that the site you quote does not ban the user. The user is perfectly in his/her rights to use a handle not yet chosen. I say this because I would be very unhappy if suddenly someone came along and said that I am using their handle that they have used for some longer time and asked to ban me. I would argue that it is not anybody's exclusive right to a chosen handle.

Follow this procedure:

1. Invite the 16-year-old to visit your home.

2. Once he/she is in, lock all doors and windows.

3. Force him/her to make a choice: EITHER give up the "bitRAKE" handle OR help write comments for the fasm source code!

4. Let him/her go, regardless of the choice he/she makes, as you have no legal basis to detain him/her.

Don't laugh - this really works! Laughing

victor: You are using the handle that I have used elsewhere since the time of the dinosaurs, so either give it up or write comments for the fasm source code. Which do you choose?

now, like in real life, we need to have a first name and last name.

There seems to be at least one other 'f0dder' too - a bit annoying, especially since one of them is a counter-strike gamer-lamer >_<

erf...
for me, the nickname is not representative of any personnality.

there are soem guy that choose nick very impressive:

Hack3r, Superterminator, Azazel, berserk freezer...

some other choose soft nicknames:

babydoll, barbie, bamby, minipussy...

other choose nicknames according to their interrest:

bitRAKE, asmfan, gt turbo, etc etc...

then, the return of human naming syntax is there...

remember the old ages.

for the names in general

mister Bush -> the man who lives in the bush?
mister Washignton -> the man who comes from the town where we wash the clothes...
Richard -> from rich, ard as a suffix, for a good identification of the spoken word.
scotland -> the land of scott.
new york -> the york that is new
france -> the country of francs
francs -> people that are direct, frank.

then, why we give names to people? don't know. the effect is a separation of humans, create classes between human ( we are all equals???), create communities. good...

"one more fun human trick."

Actually, it might be time for a change. Before bitRAKE I used Master Program - based on the MCP (Master Control Program) from the movie Tron. I doubt anyone can find my Pascal or 680x0 code from the BBS days. Before that I was nick named Mr. Wizard by other school mates - never like the name but it was better than the other things I was called, lol.

I've used b1tb0t for some non-use accounts.

I'll have to give it some thought. Maybe I'll just use my birth name.

Killing him would not erase the content.

I like edfed's idea better Smile. BTW, my "gamertag" for xbox is
II K4RN4G3 II, but after a few weeks I suddenly got at least 6 people who changed their name to mine (suddel differencfes), and messaged me telling about it Sad.

Is it worse when you have half-a-dozen people tell you they took your name, or find a couple that didn't?
