Traveling from Puerto Rico to Florida and back, I was curious to find US department of transportation officers instead of FAA ones doing the passenger searches.

Is the Department of Transportation the new authority on airports? Or are they only helping the FAA? Does the FAA belongs to the Department of Transportation or are they a separate agency?

Just curious.

The FAA is a part of the federal Department of Transportation.

More accurately, they were TSA employees (Transportation Security Administration), which is a part of the Department of Homeland Security. http://www.tsa.gov/who_we_are/index.shtm.

Here is a bit of history on the TSA: http://www.tsa.gov/research/tribute/history.shtm

Sorry, I just couldn't resist.

I believe there are no cows in USA, as McDonald's fast food depleted entire stock of cows/buffallos and after that depleted all their excrement too Smile

Sorry to McDonald, but if it tastes same like in Slovakia, then I think I may be close to truth....

The Bush administration has the market cornered on all bovine and equine excrement here in the States! They serve up so much, that they need all they can get. Their specialty: Horse, Cow, and especially Bull Sh..!
