Object "Foot" will be included in the next release. You can upgrade for $500.

I would say... for a beginner best is C

I'd have to disagree - there's way too many ways to shoot yourself in the foot with C when you're a beginner... it'd be better to start with a hybrid C/C++ approach, staying with procedural programming but using the safer C++ standard libary. Especially the C str* functions should be shunned, as they're unsafe.

But really it would be best with a language/environment where the learner gets a feeling of being able to accomplish something...

It is LAME to code procedural in C++ ;] C++ is much more power full and much more dificult more strongly typed and so on...

Depends on the project, really. One of the nice things about C++ is that it's multi-paradigm and flexible.

It's a bit stronger typed than C (which is a good thing), but it's not a very strongly typed language (which is also a good thing). The stronger typing is annoying when you deal with poorly designed legacy code (win32 API, for instance), but it's a great thing when you're writing proper code.

Anyway, my idea was to start with procedural code since it's easier to grasp for a beginner, but still use the safer C++ functionality...

Oh, man, I laughed so hard in the office. Everybody thinks I'm weird now Smile

Btw, I felt like "Other ASM" was the correct answer, because I love FASM and have no problem with it, while ASM itself is conceptually hard compared to i.e. C or BASIC which both have their problems of course.
