is there any way to concatenate two preprocessor symbolic constants?

for example, I do:

qwerty equ lkjhgf

Then I want "qwerty" to mean "lkjhgfmnbvcxz" by using concatenation... Is it possible?

The only place where I know it is possible is inside macros, with the "#" operator...
