Nope, instead changed from XP to linux. Thinking of changing from linux to BSD, since its more stable than linux or XP.

The only reason I see for someone to change to Vista is gamming, since DX10 is for Vista only. I guess is a way of M$ to force gamers to upgrade to Vista. Still there will be a 2 year period before Windows games are DX10 only games. And thats only if you have a DX10 ready video card, wich are (at this moment) too costly.

xanatose: there are kernel improvements in Vista that I certainly wouldn't mind having... the problem is all the crud around the kernel, and the DRM shit. DX10 might be nice too...

but none of it is enough that I'll be ready to accept all the added crap. At least not yet.

Just was wondering if any people have upgraded to Windows Vista yet.

I still haven't downgraded the ugly Windows2000 with the uglier WindowXP, go figure if I downgrade to the even uglier and more unstable Vista!

Running on the same hardware (tested on some core2duo laptops and my amd64x2 4400+/2gig ram/GF7600 card), XP is definitely smoother & faster than Vista. And has less problems.

IE7 runs much faster on my AMD64x2 than it does on my P4 XP Home SP2. Of course, IE ain't exactly the fastest browser anyways. (I actually have OffByOne and Firefox but typically prefer Opera ... haven't tried Safari "twice as fast" beta 3 yet.) So, you have alternatives, even on Windows, if IE is too bloated or slow for you (thankfully). Smile

Do us web developers a favor and don't use IE. It is nine years behind web standards and a PITA to make work with modern web standards. It's market share is slowly dwindling which, hopefully, will either eliminate it or, more likely, Microsoft will finally get the idea that standards are important.........NAH.

There seem to be more and more sites these days that only work with Firefox or IE (go figure).

BTW, I think MS wants people to use Virtual PC 2007 if they want decent compatibility. IMO, that's only a partial (copout) solution. They still have lots of things to fix, improve, etc. (especially since they are pushing this Vista upgrade on pretty much everyone).

EDIT: Oops, VPC2k7 doesn't install on Vista Home versions (doh). Use QEMU or BOCHS instead.
