still downloading, like turtle.... 44mb already (1st category haven't yet finish) omG, seems like would take more time to have a complete set.

line seems ok, coz using this line i could download up to 150kbytes (http), just why package this is slow, idk.

Ill try to download it too, but WARNING low harddisk space ^^.
If it is lower than 600mb, I can upload it to my webhost temporarily.

OMG, even to load the program it took 2 minutes :S.

I'll do it on a night-download.

IMO, it would probably be faster to port the program in some other language and then run it Smile.

Maybe port it to D or C++? Not sure how much of the code is .NET specific tho.

At the rate it is just downloading the page names, Id say rewriting is faster. It needs to at least multi-thread and take several pages down at once. And why the hell does it need to expand the tree. That is a death wish IMO.

What sort of computers did they test the PackageThis on? 200 Core Duo Extremes working in parallel with direct access to the MSDN server???? Heh.

The reason for the memory increase is because the tree adds new nodes. I'm up to 140mb now. I think I might cancel it - and try HTTrack....

I looked at the source code of the PackageThis, it uses some neat .NET web feature to download the pages. Thats one reason why its so slow.

I then went to the msdn page and had a look at the source code there, its not that difficult actually, to write one in a different language. Basically look for all the items in the left menu, and follow those links to take all the MSDN pages...

But I'm quite busy atm, maybe in the future...
