Here is a low-budget sci-fi movie:

The Signal
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwgfeR2pMuE

The first ten minutes or so is intriguing whereas the last ten minutes or so is truly stunning. But the in-between is quite ... low-budget!

this one is like a christian jesus propaganda movie,

God's Not Dead
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2528814/

Quote:
College philosophy professor Mr. Radisson's curriculum is challenged by his new student, Josh, who believes God exists.

subtle brain wash, nicely done.

sure god believe people know when to take advantage and force god into your heart,
yeah, if you gonna die in next 5 minutes, believe nothing, or take jesus for gamble =)

logically, maybe, why not take jesus for a bet.

I saw Oculus (2013), a paranormal horror movie from the producer of Insidious & Paranormal Activity. Quite good. it kept my interest to the last minute.

Following sleepsleep's recommendation i will probably watch the Zero Theorem tonight since i can't find Greek subs for 'The Signal' yet.

This is a sad day. Robin Williams, one of my favorite American actors, passed away yesterday.

Last night, for some unknown reasons, I chose to re-watch Dead Poets Society, one of Robin's highly-regarded films. And today I learned about his death (suspected suicide).

May he rest in peace.

Aldnoah Zero (Japanese Anime) 1-6 on going, kickass

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aldnoah.Zero

Quote:
In 1972, an ancient alien hypergate was discovered on the surface of the moon. Using this technology, humanity began migrating to Mars and settling there. After settlers discovered additional advanced technology, the Vers Empire was founded, which claimed Mars and its secrets for themselves. Later, the Vers Empire declared war on Earth, and in 1999, a battle on the Moon's surface caused the hypergate to explode, shattering the Moon and scattering remnants into a debris belt around the planet. Cut off from Mars, the remnants of the Vers Empire established several massive orbital space stations within the debris belt and a ceasefire was established. 15 years later, in 2014, an attack on the Vers princess during a peace mission causes the Empire to launch a new attack on Earth, this time determined to conquer it once and for all.

Leave science behind for 90 minutes. Enjoy the sci-fi elements accompanied by some fantastic CGs.

Well, I prefer the ending scenes in which the lead character "kind of" hold and then throw upwards the "imaginative" sun.

Don't wait for the call any more. We don't need someone to tell us what the meaning of life is! Wink

Two films i saw recently and liked:

Open Grave, a solid horror film.

Coherence, a sci-fi thriller about alternate realities.

Here is another recommendation for sci-fi fans:

The Giver
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJNNugNe0Wo

In the middle of the movie, there is a short yet truly-touching piano piece:

Don't miss it!

Yeah, the CG looks utterly real. Of course, such a fantastic movie would have already been recommended by some wise forum member. Guess who? Wink
