This film is a documentary-like depiction of the (fictional) Europa mission. It shows the realistic, boring, yet risky side of a manned space journey. For those who are expecting creepy aliens, Star Wars Jedi Knights, massive explosions, and so forth, this movie would not be their cup of tea. Wink

I saw Oblivion (2013), a futuristic, well directed adventure. The story even though not so original -requires some 'light' mood by the viewer- nevertheless is very entertaining film partly because of Tom Cruise performance and the backdrop of desolate Earth which i found fascinating, I think the best part of the movie. Check it out.

I watched this film about a week ago.The CG is nice but the story, as you mentioned, lacks originality. The idea of cloning has been exploited in so many earlier films, and the ending is just so familiar to regular movie-goers -- it reminds me of Independence Day and Stargate. Wink

Maybe you have overestimated the IQ of aliens -- most of them are just dummies! Wink

Just watched this film a couple of days ago. It is a nice "Die Hard"-type action movie. The lead character/hero never dies! Wink

ah, mr.president, Laughing
why he didnt send the president with others when the heli comes, but kamikaze it, idk,

coming out alive after terrorize the whitehouse?
Haha ... you were using "kamikaze" as a verb, which, according to existing grammar, can be used only as a noun or adjective. English is evolving so fast! Smile

The bad guy / mastermind wants to use the helicopter explosion as a decoy to divert the attention of the rescue forces and to buy time -- so that he can find the last set of code needed for nuclear self-destruction. Wink

I saw it a couple of days ago, after the first hour i was bored and felt tired, i think it was a bad super hero movie.

The ending was surprising, and all the characters are flawed enough to seem real to the story. Rooney Mara does an excellent job for such a difficult role. Her character was clearly used and thrown away - multiple times - that part is sad.

I'm gonna watch it tonight, if i put my kids in bed at a reasonable hour Smile

Yes the story borrows elements from many movies, but not necessarily be a bad thing. It reminded me to end the very good Moon

If you don't like "Olympus Has Fallen", you should not bother to watch "White House Down" which I think is funny (and silly). Wink

Perhaps the reason Engineer gets so angry and tears David's head off, is that he woken up by an android who speaks his language build by those insignificant human beings and this totally freaks him out.

(Just a theory)

hi picnic,

that is very possible, especially when someone was woken up suddenly when they are still enjoying sleeping. Laughing

btw,
here is the extended scene, don't know if you watch it already or not.

I watched "Prometheus" a few days ago and found its CG very nice. The storyline is a bit too straightforward but is okay to me. The only issue that puzzles me is the exploration technology depicted in the film, which is far more advanced than that in Alien. If the crew members in Alien had access to those flying balls -- mapping devices -- that emit red laser beams, they would capture / kill the alien on board like a piece of cake. Just a thought! Wink

Impressions? Smile

Recently i saw The skin i live in "La piel que habito" by Pedro Almodóvar which i liked, the somehow disturbing and dark script along with the solid filmmaking took me by surprise.
