I agree with you. In terms of originality, Battle Royale is definitely better. But the Hunger Games also explores issues like reality TV, sponsors, poor vs rich, and so forth. Wink

hopefully i could watch it tomorrow or Wednesday.

Quote:

Army helicopter pilot Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal), last aware of being on a mission in Afghanistan, wakes up on a commuter train traveling to Chicago. He finds that to the world around him – including his traveling partner Christina Warren (Michelle Monaghan) and the bathroom mirror – he appears to be Sean Fentress, a school teacher. As he comes to grips with this revelation, the train car explodes, killing everyone aboard.

getting this

The Adjustment Bureau
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Adjustment_Bureau

Quote:
A surprisingly engaging romance, this paranoid thriller based on a Philip K. Dick short story of the same name was one of the standout sci-fi films to come out this year. ‘The Adjustment Bureau’ starred Matt Damon as the man who inadvertently peeked behind the veil of the Bureau that secretly keeps the world on track, Emily Blunt as a very appealing love interest and Anthony Mackie as the sympathetic Bureau member who has a niggling feeling that people should have free will, even if they make poor decisions.

I watched this inspiring movie a couple of months ago. One word summarizes its underlying theme: HOPE. Wink

In the movie, the "repeating" dimensions are called alternate realities. What is truly inspiring is the creative ending, which, as I mentioned earlier, offers HOPE to the audience. Wink

Never Let Me Go (2010)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Never_Let_Me_Go_%282010_film%29

Quote:

The film begins with on-screen captions explaining that a medical breakthrough in 1952 has permitted the human lifespan to be extended beyond 100 years. Subsequently, the film is narrated by 28-year-old Kathy H (Carey Mulligan) as she reminisces about her childhood at a boarding school called Hailsham, as well as her adult life after leaving the school.

I saw Prometheus.
The characters are disappointingly boring, i think that's the worst thing about the film along with the lack of tension, some unexplained events and plot holes.
However, as a space adventure was enjoyable with the optical part and the visual effects simply excellent, i want sequel!

I am gonna see Red Lights (2012), on saturday evening most likely.

^^ I liked the android 'David' (Michael Fassbender), even though i think that 'Bishop' (Lance Henriksen) in Aliens was a top class android, but that's logical it's an improved model manufactured decades after. Dr Elizabeth Shaw role was fair enough.
Well, we have 30 years from Prometheus (Year 2093) to Alien (Year 2122) and we have to know where did Elizabeth go and yes, we have to see that 'head' in action...

Dark Shadows
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Shadows_%28film%29

the scenery is very beautiful!

Quote:
Dark Shadows is a 2012 American horror comedy film, based on the gothic soap opera of the same name that was produced for television between 1966 and 1971. The film is directed by Tim Burton and stars Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins, a 200-year-old vampire who has been imprisoned in a coffin. Collins is eventually unearthed and makes his way back to his mansion, now inhabited by his dysfunctional descendants. Collins also discovers that his jealous ex-lover, Angelique Bouchard, played by Eva Green, has taken over the town's fishing business that was once run by the Collins family (Bouchard is a witch who was responsible for transforming Collins into a vampire). Michelle Pfeiffer also stars as Collins' cousin, Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, the reclusive matriarch of the Collins family

The movie was a low-budget production. Yet the plot was intriguing and soul-stirring. It is definitely not the cup of tea for everyone. Wink

kinda shocking (in a few scenes)

Quote:

what if our creator change their mind, and they want to destroy us.

why the creator kill the alien droid after the droid communicate with him?
why the human droid put alien stuff into the drinks?

and a lot more unresolved questions.
Quote:

yeah, why the fucking why we are being created.

they did it because they can.

damn it, this might be the fucking truth!

Perhaps the reason Engineer gets so angry and tears David's head off, is that he woken up by an android who speaks his language build by those insignificant human beings and this totally freaks him out.

(Just a theory)
