When you view the properties of an empty (formatted) diskette in WinXP, it tells you that there is 1.38MB of space available for your files. However, files aren't the only things that reside on a diskette. There is some room reserved for the FAT (File Allocation table). MenuetOS comes with it's own FAT That's why it's a 1.44MB file. If you try to format a diskette in WinXP, XP will tell you the true size of the diskette (wich is ....wait for it.... 1.44MB!)
As for checking if the floppy is faulty: if Rawwrite can't reach 100% your diskette has gone to heaven, sorry When MenuetOS boots, it doesn't save anything, it just reads the whole floppy . If there are bad clusters (broken floppy) MenuetOS will not load... |

If using RawWrite, make sure you're using Rawrite for Windows.
Do not copy the self-installer .EXE onto the floppy and expect that to work. |
