I guess china is most likely buddhist, and Santa is normally not known to buddhists, except for those modern one.

MCD: We don't have Santa either. We have Dedo Mráz ("Ded Moroz", could be translated as "Uncle Frosty"). Of course that propaganda is pushing SC here too, but still.

i think I was too much listening to Rammstein who mentioned him in one of their songs.

In Germany we have the "Weihnachtsmann" which can be translated into Christmas-man Laughing (sounds like a stupid new american super-hero, ahhh america again Rolling Eyes )

we also have "Ded Moroz" and "Sviaty Mikola" - in soviet time balance was to "Ded" (="Old man","Grandfather"), now to another. When pravoslavic christmas will come (07 of jan) children will go to sing koliadki - songs which came from ancient prechristian religion. after shortest day of year Old Sun will dead and then at night Koliada - wife of Rod - will bear new son - Young Sun. these songs were intended to send glory (="slava") to Koliada, but later were modified to send glory to jesus.

Due to the earthquake near Taiwan (which damaged a number of seabed optic fibre cables), Hong Kong's Internet (& IDD) connections to the outside world almost came to a halt in the last couple of days!

We do celebrate Xmas in Hong Kong. In fact, we have two public holidays (25/12 & 26/12) for Xmas. I didn't receive any gifts because I'm a lonely loser - I have no friends! Crying or Very sad

Anyway, happy new year to all! Smile

you are not right! we are all your friends here, even if we are situated not too close to you. possible you have to change some of your views at life and other men, then you will find enough of friends around you. i'm sure Wink cheers via internet - it is also a kind of a gift - not materialistic, thus immortal (永) ;)

happy new year to you!

I agree! I consider you all my friends even if we never met in person. We all share a common interest and respect for knowledge and that's enough for me.

Best wishes for the coming year Smile

I have almost no friends too. And most don't really care about me.

But I have my computer, and people from this board. Rolling Eyes
