Hi everybody. This is going to be a message genneraly to Mr Tomasz Grysztar (but all of you can drop some comments here - of course).

Yep, So we all know that it looks like FASM became the best assembler (hope I`m right). It has got IDEAL mode syntax, can produce 16,32,64bit code, copmile code & resources & link all together, super macro support etc. etc. and it`s in ONE .exe (Tomasz, you know what you did Rolling Eyes and you can be proud from yourself) BUT I`m really missing one thing. You were using TASM before so you will know what I mean by /zi (that was for tasm32.exe) and -v (-for tlink32.exe) - in the other way FULL SYMBOLIC DEBUG INFORMATION (so I can see, during debuging process, names of my program`s labels and procedures). It makes writing programs much easier (especially when there is a bug inside the code Laughing ).

I don't know how long it would takes, but it`s the only thing I`m missing in Fasm. Do you think you could do it for us? [It could be something like 'DEBUG ON/OFF' which would be OFF by default - so nobody would have to change already finished projects to compile them again Wink ]

[ Idea SUGESSTION FOR THE FORUM - It would be good if during editing a new post, cliking on an emoticon would place the emoticon at the cursor position not at the end of the text ]

The debugging support is planned and has been discussed before. A little patience needed. The main problem was, IIRC, wether to use the already developed systems or make a new format.

OK, thats fine. I haven't had access to the Internet last time. I hope I will see some progression- soon.

from my knowledge, tomasz has already decided to go with own format (which will then be parsed to common ones by external utils). Last time i discussed this with him, he was solving some internal issues about this.

Yeah, but it's easier to wait if you know that Tomasz already started thinking about the problem and that such option will be added to your favorite assembler ;]

Yes, I confirm that what vid said here is true. There are still some small problems related to this, but I suspect I'm going to overcome them soon. You can expect the fasm's own debug info format to be available in 1.68.

i know, not a nice question at all, but... can you predict some time/date bounds how long it will take to finish design, start implementing, finish implementing etc?

and, any details on format? 'coz i will be the one parsing it. hope i will finish fasmlib core, before it's done
