You'd think a forum of 2000 would be able to put more than 4 people in an IRC channel. Get on there and talk it up, guys

Usually when I'm on IRC (mostly #MenuetOS) then I end up talking with people and not coding anything

Maybe we could try to arrange some fixed time (let's say, once a week) when we would enter the channel and give some life to it?

Friday evening would be free for an average person that works 9-5 Mon-Fri and that other person who goes to school at the same time. People with shifts can have a free Friday evening at every other week
![]() If it helps I can idle on the IRC at every workday...that doesn't mean that I communicate ![]() |

You mean "evening" as for GMT?

Hehe it's tricky
![]() If you make it friday evening late enough (22,23:00 CET), west-coast based ppl who work/study should also be able to join, but then it becomes REALLY late in eastern europe, not to mention asia ![]() /L P.S. no wonder companies have "follow-the-sun" helpdesks ![]() |

I think the only way out is to be there on "whenever you can" bases
![]() EDIT: Damn - my laptop crashed! |

I've seen a ton of websites try to do IRC schedules. They never work. Most people forget, or they have other things to do. The best things to make members active is to make some incentives. Maybe a coding contest every week or something. Add some variety to the channel that makes people want to join. A little more advertising would help, too. Maybe a message at the top of the forum or on the FASM homepage.

An IRC bot could select a random #flatassembler visitor as the winner of a signed (by Tomasz) copy of the Fasm manual.
This could be sponsored by Intel&HP in exchange for Tomasz adding Itanium support to Fasm, in the hope of decreasing the world's total disintrest in this line of CPU's. Just an idea. |

Quote: If it only supports one IRC at a time then this is not a very good programme oO. Miranda is a "global protocol client". It supports most major chat protocols. Just becuase it doesn't support IRC all that well, doesn't mean the program is worthless. There's still Yahoo, MSN, AOL, Jabber, etc. |

I think Gaim is better than Miranda
![]() It handles as many clients as Miranda, and can log onto multiple IRC servers at once, in tabs. |
