Yes, this is very interesting technology and not only possible with AMD Pacifica, but also with a large number of Intel processors as well. This capability is made possible by the new extenstions to the IA-32 ISA, the VT-x. Intel has already introduced quite a few processors that are VT-x capable. Vt-x makes virtualization almost performance hit undetectable. This VT-x stuff is something we need to fully understand.

Though common in modern spoken English, "hot" suggesting a woman whose appearance induces male arousal--increasing MALE, not female temperature--Comrade's reference to aberrant thermoregulaton implying sexual potency is slightly misplaced, because most females experience hot flashes during menopause, with concomitant dyspareunia, hence a lack of interest in copulation.
Ah, you mean that you believe that, au contraire, Comrade was inquiring about power consumption of the cpu....Ok, well, yes, even at 65 nanometers, still hot. Noctua offers by far, the best heat sink out there, puts thermaltake to shame....

though, a warning, at least with the 9U model, you must sill employ some kind of fan, though one with very low displacement, i.e. not more than 10cubic feet/minute, is more than adequate to keep the 100+ watt cpu's cooled adequately.

I don't get it. (not surprising since I do not have AMD and read sod all about their virtualization)...

but

shouldn't "switching" to virtual be a privileged operation? If not, it really seems a brain dead, screw security way of implementing it.

HyperVista, when you or one of your guys come back please post some info about it here.

Just hope that Microsoft do nothing about this since a quick protection could be just keep the CPU always in VT-X mode which is slower than no VT-X mode I suppose...

i've always found female programmers to be very foreign, not that it is a bad thing, especially if they are pretty, just find it to be an unusual concept
