1) I have mandrake 9.1 and just downloaded the fasm.vim for the indentation in my ~/.vim/indent directory. Now What..? nothing special seems to happen. vim used to highlight .asm files earlier too (without any indentation) and it does the same now.
I also downloaded the fasm.vim compilation script and placed it in my ~/.vim/compile directory but don't know how to use it.(I am just a beginner and not exactly comfortable with vim) Question

2) Can anyone please help me on how to start asm programming using fasm in linux. I haven't yet found a single tutorial that caters to asm programming in linux using fasm? Exclamation

1) ":set syntax=fasm"
2) I recommend the open-source book "Programming From the Ground Up". It's got ugly AT&T syntax, but it's easily convertable to fasm syntax. I did so myself. Smile Also, just read other code, and code programs yourself, and experiment to learn.

If you expect something special from vim you are wrong, vim is just a text editor, not an IDE. Write your Makefile and use :mak to compile your project. Read about 'include' option and ctags and set it so C-N and C-X C-O will work.
