Anyone tried Matt Mahoney's PAQ8a or similar? It seems really interesting (especially the extra JPEG compression), and luckily it can even be compiled for DOS (I used GXX 4.0.1 and UPX 1.25). It's a bit slow, though. UHarc may perform better for all your basic compression needs, but do give PAQ8a a try. Smile

7-Zip now works on real DOS either with the Win32 cmdline version plus HXRT or Blair's unofficial DJGPP port of p7zip (latest is 4.42, dated 01 June 2006, for FreeDOS 1.0, see URL below). Download the latter (binaries or source) directly from ibiblio.org or visit http://p7zip.sf.net/ for other POSIX ports.
