When you use "%.8X" take in mind this:

x, X An unsigned hexadecimal integer in lowercase or uppercase.


wsprintf needs a 32-bit unsigned integer, not a BCD number. I can't give a try to your program because Win98SE doesn't have OpenThread function but you error is the type of data you pass to wsprintf, I think
