Miss a little only for clarity (I dont live in USA), NO is in Florida????, byt the way, I can say taht perhaps that will not happend again Very Happy... I can say that Wink.

I apologize for the confusion engendered by the lack of clarity in my expression: I sought to juxtapose the current hurricane, Katrina, [which struck FLORIDA first, (killing about 8 people), THEN moved into the Gulf of Mexico, moving very slowly for two days--gathering strength, before striking Louisiana (especially N.O.= New Orleans-->founded by the French as a seaport early in the eighteenth century) and Mississippi last week,] with the former "hurricane" of political force. In 2000, USA elections were held, and the governor of Florida, brother of G.W.Bush, rigged the elections, by depriving the poor blacks of their votes, so that his brother could "win". That set up a confrontation decided by the Supreme Court in favor of Bush. So the first "hurricane", in Florida, blew away the poor peoples' votes, and the second hurricane, Katrina, took their lives. If the first hurricane, i.e. the illegal activities of the Florida government, had not occurred, Bush would not have been "elected", and (there would have been no killing of the poor people of Iraq!) the response of the emergency team of government employees (to assist in evacuating poor people living in Louisiana and Mississippi, BEFORE the storm struck,) may have been much swifter. In other words, IN MY OPINION, had the 2000 election not been rigged, the number of casualties from the second hurricane, Katrina, may have been MUCH LOWER. In a similar manner, i.e. political opportunism at the expense of decency, and honesty, IBM and Microsoft rigged the "elections" for operating systems, back in the 1970's, with the result that ALL competition was eliminated, and M$ reigned then, and still reigns today, supreme. Sorry for the opacity of my communications. Smile

may be next time please take the warnings seriuosly, walk if you have to. you people could take a leaf from 3rd worlders like me. in my continent we would walk or run where possible. the only natural disasters to get us would be earthquakes the rest are man made. still its odd and sad to see people in the 1st world suffer that way. the elderly here(my country) still think that was in africa somewhere.

They should have started moving people out as soon as they knew about the hurricane. Even if they hadn't got them all out, the lives lost probably wouldn't be nearly so much. At least they could have tried. Look how many lives were lost!

I only hope that this will cause the Republicans to lose the election in 2008.

Unfortunately Joe Public and the news media reporters have very short memories.
