What happened to the tetris1d thread? On the topic of strange and useless games, try this: http://www.almorale.com/liteblue.html
The world's worst tic-tac-toe playing computer! Try LOSING... that's a challenge; I've only done it once. Here's the description from the site Laughing :

Lite Blue!
Wouldn't it be great if there was a computer that's NOT getting smarter all the time? One that isn't humilating chess masters or otherwise beating human beings at their own game? Now there is: Meet "Lite Blue," the world's worst tic-tac-toe playing computer.

If you like this and missed the tetris1d thread, check out http://www.tetris1d.org/ for another incredibly useless game that is IMPOSSIBLE to lose (unlike Lite Blue).

I will not comment on the recommendations made by the FDA as to the affect of these games on the players brain, nor will I mention where the authors of these games are "doing time". My only comment is that these are easy to teach little kids, etc. If you are someone who doesn't understand computers, it's OK! Play these games NOW!

edit: Found the tetris1d thread. http://board.flatassembler.net/topic.php?t=3529

I don't think liteblue does things randomly, I bet liteblue actually is programmed to make the worst moves possible. Artificial stupidity, you might call it, or fuzzy non-logic Very Happy

I don't know how he tracked me down, but I got the following e-mail, apparently from the person who wrote Lite Blue:

Greetings,

You are exactly right about that.

My web stats led me to your thread regarding Lite Blue. I wrote the
program in the late-90s (one of my first programming projects). At that
time, IBM's Deep Blue had just defeated a human chess champion for the
first time. So Lite Blue was intended as a humourous "consolation prize"
for the human race.

I hope you found some laughs or amusement with Lite Blue.

Best regards,
Tom Bodine

Now I hope this person isn't tracking us all... Shocked

yeah, using some kind of worst tracking algorithm, which tries all worst possibilities, so the last tried is the right one. Clever, with this you always get answer. Now I comprehend way of microsoft, they want to reach ultimate bad to be able to separate out the good and share it with people (because all bad will belong to microsoft)

PS: Seems i'm little offbrain from that infinite assembly math :~|
