I made update for CPUID - added many modern Intel, AMD and VIA CPU's.

New version seems to bug
I used last version of mike.dld 's emulator. I will test it soon under MenuetOS. Here are screenshots : v 0.92 : http://bakkap.free.fr/MenuetOS/cpuid092.png v 0.93 : http://bakkap.free.fr/MenuetOS/cpuid093_bug.png CPU is Prescott 2.4A GHz (1M L2,fsb 533). cpuid = f33 |

Big Thanks! I forgot to rename one label in SSE3 detection. I don't have SSE3 and it works for me, but not for you. Sorry and try it again http://coolthemes.narod.ru/files/cpuid093.zip
PS: I have version with icons http://coolthemes.narod.ru/files/087extra.rar This project (CPUID) now is only supported (adding new CPU, when it comes to market), not under active development. |

I already fixed this bug (memory of threads overlapping), but found yet another (stack overflow?). I need to consult with Mario79 for its fixing. Just wait...
BTW, can you make link to menuetos part of your site from start page? |

Well, you site show that you have interest to CPU identification.
If you add page about MenuetOS it would be contribution to OS. |

It's release day of CPUID 1.0
I started CPUID one year ago. First version was 0.3, because CPUSPEED and TIMES were made by VT in 2001 and provide some CPU-specific information. It was a long year and CPUID support wide range of processors now. I read AMD Docs recently and realize that about 50% of CPU features isn't implemented yet. Well, I leave implementation of these features for CPUID 1.x series. Thanks to all folks helping me by testing, suggestions, requests and code. http://coolthemes.narod.ru/files/cpuid100.zip |

I hope it will soon work in 64-bit MenuetOS, or maybe we should port it to 64-bits

Madis
CPUID have limited support for codenames of 64-bit CPUs now (know about 30% of codenames - CPU series differs in little details, but Intel and AMD create 10 "new codenames" for every 2-3 month. This is marketing, not creating something really NEW). You can run CPUID in Kolibri at 64-bit CPU and say about results If Ville want to see CPUID running at M64 - I give list of required functions here. For example, sysfunction 18/5 used for getting core frequency. |

18/5 added for upcoming 0.17. The first window displayed now properly. The second is opened as thread ?

Yeah, I had problems opening the second window. I'm not worried about the codenames - it showed clockspeed and name 100% correct: Intel Pentium D 3.00GHz (its a dualcore). I'm interested in the 64-bit stamp of the code, the binary, so it doesn't need converting in the software but already runs in 64-bit.
Having 32-bit support is nice, but what is 64-bit really good for is its 64-bit width registers and 16 of them. We can port most of the code without much hassle and a lot less pushes and pops |
