All AMD64s (as well as Intel Pentium 4s) support SSE2. You have to test if CPUID is available, then run CPUID and test for SSE2.

(In DOS, both HDPMI32 and Causeway 4.02 enable SSE for you automatically, if available. See here.)

Of course, but as I stated: I do not see any use in checking for CPU features in every function due to performance issues.
Doing this just once makes application design much more straightforward and manageable.
