is a shell. MenuetOS is a fine operating system, but how's a user supposed to run a program without putting a shortcut on the desktop? Someone should make menuetos a little easier to use...

You can use systree or sysxtree to start new or test programs.

I agree there should be a built in shell or a shell loader of some kind, but in the meantime you can also look at

CMD- a coomand line interpretor
RunAPP- same as windows run command
Mash- a bash emulator
Dosbox- a dos emulator

All Available here:

look under "Addon Apps"

On the same topic:
FASM and TinyPad should unite - OneClickRun is a good thing.
Now you'd have to save, switch to FASM, compile and then run.
In Windows I'm using F9 to test and Alt+F4 to shut down my program.
No need to switch between programs and as we know MenuetOS kernel
won't allow you to click a button before you have focused that program.

about RunAPP:
I'm too lazy to find a system to try that on - has anyone tested it? I'd
like to know can I run the programs like /RD/1/CPUID or can I just have
the program to run the short form (CPUID)?

I've tried CMD - it is more like NT-s cmd than WIN9x

RunApp starts up with "/RD/1/" already written. You can simply type in "cpuid" to start program cpuid on floppy or use backspace to start say "/HD/1/TEMP/cpuid"

"ASM and TinyPad should unite"

Has been done! there is a tinypad (by wishing?) that has FASM compile.

It's in .76 or .77 ez.

hint, set up two or three icons on desktop, save, test it, save to other to keep.

BTW the easy way to run an app is CTL-ALT-DEL

then just edit/append to end of text string and click RUN.

g'day

I don't know what version I'm using, but its compile button doesn't work.
When I click it and go to execute the program - its the same old one - hmm, maybe I didn't get it quite right and did sth wrong.
