i could use a unreal mode DOS (32bit limits, 32bit code). That would be fun to code for, you'll only miss the funny things with segments (all will be 0 probably). And such app couild as well run as app of some OS, without much to rewrite.

With the NEW v2os, you do not need unreal mode, you can do the same in pmode.
here is a example: first for bios read disk sector
Code:
mov ah,02hmov al,01hlea bx,sectormov ch,05mov cl,03mov dh,00mov dl,00int 13h

here is a example: for NEW v2os read disk sector
Code:
mov ah,02hmov al,01hmov edi,sector ;<just thismov ch,05mov cl,03mov dh,00mov dl,00int 40h ;< and this.

So basically we have used int 40h, instead of int 13h, this will be the same for all int 13h, this will mean people who have old realmode tut, can easy program for NEW v2os code named v3os.
+ you can switch to realmode and back with a int, for bios int if you want.
Also i have rewritten it with fasm and add fat support Smile.

Thanks fasm9, MenuetOS is a great OS and will make a great desktop . v3os does not want to be a desktop OS, more a modern day Dos, v3os will be good for games,mp3 players, electric projects, robotics etc.
Its the same spec as the xbox eg:
There's no virtual memory paging, and only a single process is allowed (though that process can spawn multiple threads),
The programs owns the hardware--it runs in ring 0, and has direct access to all hardware (including CPU and graphics).
There will be a full set of pmode ints, based on bios and dos functions, but will not be compatable with dos ints, as the ints numbers will be different, but you could easy convert any dos program, to run on v3os.
Also theres a module interface for adding drivers etc.

So its a 32bit pmode Dos with access to up to 4 GB of memory, and usb, better graphic Hdd, atapi, floppy, vesa, sound drivers for ac97 onboard sound etc.
