Why asm? There is a very good explanation why to use assembly instead of any HLL like C Smile

http://webster.cs.ucr.edu/Page_asm/ArtofAssembly/0_ArtofAsm.html

it is a book, see chapters "What's Wrong With Assembly Language" and "What's Right With Assembly Language"
