I am currently working on a Fasm version with the user-visible strings xlated into German. But before I upload this, I would first ask the Fasm-public.

Is there a need at all? (most German programmers speak english well)
Is there no german school-teacher who would use shuch a thing?

I'm no German, but its absolutely necessary to have different languages to have better popularity and easily readable language for any countries. They may switch to English later if they want, but at first it's easier to program in your own language.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Does FASM really output so much text that you need to translate it?

IMHO, translation of the documentation and help files would be more usefull. The problem is that it is not only german language - FASM users are spread all over the world. So we need translation at least for most common languages: english, french, german, spanish, russian and very possible chineese. Unfortunately, as far as there are changes very often, we need some translators team to make initial translation and also to make regular updates of the documentation. I don't believe it is possible just now.

i think a programmer knows english, so there's no need for translation,
correct me if i'm wrong.

however,
if multi language program is needed, then i'd prefer language files and indexed messages
which anyone can translate then, and create another .lng file which are indexed at startup, and preferred language is stored in ini file.

for example i could make a better translation of Regedit than the one was provided in a .lng file

I'm a bit confused. On one hand, many people use multi-language versions of Fasm and it would certainly be easier for some people, on the other hand, most programmers speek (read/write/understand) english well enough, and this is undoubtful since most (all) predefinied symbols in the assembly language IS abreviated english (Intel resides in the US , where else, perhaps in the far east ).

Because of this and the relatively small amount of people voting for "YES - I need a german version of Fasm", I won't upload my german version here.

Besides this, Fasm doesn't really produce lot's of user visible strings, but look into the source of the Fasm IDE, there are more strings! Most difficult would be xlating the docs, infos and "the guide to fasm internals". Since there is no actual, specific need of a german translation, I won't translate those now.
