Hi!

I am currently programming using PureBasic, but i need to do some fast
file reading. Only reading! No need to make a dll or so, purebasic supports inline asm in form of Fasm. However i have tried using winapi, but i would like to see if there were something faster.

So i thought about using assembler. Is there any way to open and read a file not using winapi?

Thanks a lot, Daniel.

no i wont try the pb forum next time Wink
crashes on big files eventually. This is for a commercial product too [and i want the source for future updates and that stuff], and for learning more assembler.

Thanks for the suggestion though. Also it has to be at a minimum filesize, and since i only need reading of the file, no need to include writing too.

i didnt post here without reason Smile

im not very good at assembly as you might notice Smile however i thought there were posibilities of not using winapi for this.. but i might be wrong [well afaik there are some interrupts but that is for dos (thats also afaik)] Smile

codesampler.com seems like a pretty interesting site, thank you for pasting that link polygon Smile

thefool, forget about "going lower level" than the windows API. It's more or less impossible to do, and it would gain you nothing; rather, learn how to use the API efficiently.
