Hi!

I am currently programming using PureBasic, but i need to do some fast
file reading. Only reading! No need to make a dll or so, purebasic supports inline asm in form of Fasm. However i have tried using winapi, but i would like to see if there were something faster.

So i thought about using assembler. Is there any way to open and read a file not using winapi?

crashes on big files eventually. This is for a commercial product too [and i want the source for future updates and that stuff], and for learning more assembler.

Thanks for the suggestion though. Also it has to be at a minimum filesize, and since i only need reading of the file, no need to include writing too.

im not very good at assembly as you might notice however i thought there were posibilities of not using winapi for this.. but i might be wrong [well afaik there are some interrupts but that is for dos (thats also afaik)]

thefool, forget about "going lower level" than the windows API. It's more or less impossible to do, and it would gain you nothing; rather, learn how to use the API efficiently.
