yes, why?

Because with a kernel with an assembly written core and with letting the door open for corpo drivers (written probably in C42(and C72 and C"planned obsolescence"), it could have been seriously serious.

Menuet64 is closed source because M32 was forked and new copyrights just slapped at the beginning of practically all 32bit source files (multitasking, drivers, GUI, networking..) without any permission. You can take a guess about the country in question.

However, you can still program your own drivers to M64. See the documents page for instructions.

Who did fork M32? A country state did sponsor an hostile fork with an attempt to claim copyrights?

Coders from Ukraine's eastern neighbor. And closed source seems to be a quite good way of getting rid of their forum spamming (to use a polite expression).

Jez... bad timings to ask for that, but I was really not expecting that. A state sponsored hostile fork of M32 which makes no sense.
Why they would do that, since the main threat would be to linux/bsd(s) /(compagnon compilers) and their associated planned obsolescence (way harder to do with asm), namely it would have been sensible that hostile fork would be from the US corporations instead (like the hostile take over of nokia mobile by microsoft), and we can add that copyrights are more likely to be enforced over there.

Is this M32 fork still around?

To my knowledge, it wasn't state sponsored, altough there is a brand-new law proposal to legalize software piracy. I really don't know their motives..
