Does any one know if you can pay for a book token at amazon uk, and then use it at the nearest amazon around the world ,if you get my meaning.
If you can i would donate a book token of say £50, if we have another compo, for the winner of the compo, or to second place if i win . \\\\||//// (@@) ASHLEY4. |

How about rather than you having to shell out the cash. And not being able to win it... Setup a paypal account and have entrants pay say £2 to enter.
Prize wouldn't be anywhere near £50 in value (unless we encouraged more people to enter) but it seems a little fairer. You could setup a site and have a different compo every couple of months. Maybe design a memory manager that has to provide certain well defined functions one month and a scheduler the next. Eventually there would be alot of code for people to learn from and if you had a design in mind in the first place you'd have a bolt together system with only the finest code in it |

Sound's good, but i would not be able to run it, i think decard is the right man for the job, as he did such a great job of the last compo.
Maybe get a sponsor to encourage Young ASM programming talent, maybe a BIOS maker will sponsor it ?, as there is a report that there is not enough asm programmers, to fill the BIOS makers post's. \\\\||//// (@@) ASHLEY4. |

Like the idea drh3xx!
I have a domain name I've been sitting on to promote such things to let groups do things just like that. Haven't had a good reason to start it, but if there's interest, I think we could try it out and see how it goes. |

ASHLEY4, my company would sponsor it as a trial run of RealChallenge (we bought the .com, .net and .org a while back to do this kind of thing).
Be happy to give you or decard a clean and simple envelope to run inside for assembly compos. Just an offer. Obviously you guys don't need me. But I've been wanting to help facilitate/promote/market compos like this for some time now. D Interested decard? |

Some thoughts about the next compo. I would really like to have another one (maybe not now, but after a month or so), and I would like to organize it. But let's think of some interesing idea for the contest.... what would you suggest? Maybe something not related to OS develpement? Some app...? Please give some suggestions
And I really don't like the idea of paying to take part. How many people would like to pay? Not that 2 pounds should be any problem, but proably many people wouldn't enter it just because they would have to pay. Let's make it free. Of course if any sponsor would like to give some award, that would be cool Crunch wrote: Just an offer. Obviously you guys don't need me. After I make it, I'll not only have more time to do good & fun stuff but also some more compo sponsorship money. Could you give me until the first week of November to send you a link to a draft website for your comment and others on this forum? If you go through the draft site then and you hate it, it should at least give you ideas on what NOT to do. If you like it, then great... let's start doing it. If you get ideas on what to do that may not fit into my envelope for RealChallenge, then I'll feel good that at least I annoyed you and others enough to help bring out more ideas for your own future compos! |
