That was the reason why I posted the code here... I could've emailed to the guys running the comp, but by putting it here others can learn from what we have done... (And in some cases see the difference between beautiful and intelligent code vs brute force code).

Here my code for :
Code:
_________ ._____________ .___\_ ___ \ __| _/\______ \____ __| _// \ \/ / __ | | ___/ _ \ / __ | \ \____/ /_/ | | | ( <_> ) /_/ | \______ /\____ | |____| \____/\____ | \/ \/ \/

Please do not use the code, as a example of how to do vesa, get into pmode, atapi code, etc.
To fit it all in, i have had to compromise.
I have better code for that.

PS: You are welcome to put CdPod on you site, if you want.

I moved this topic to OS construction, as it really belongs here, and the compo has finished, so it is not so important now.

What do you think about the contest? Has it proven that a cool OS can be coded in just 512 bytes, or do you still think that real OS must have at least 100mb? Wink

I have to say that I could do better job with the contests' site, but it was the first time when I was doing something like this, next time I will prepare something much better - now I know what are the problems and how to solve them. For the next compo I will prepare more advanced system, with user registration.... Smile

regards,
Mateusz

I think you did a very god job with the web site, but i also think people do not like running bootable code on there pc's, also if they do try them, they use old pc Crying or Very sad .
Maybe next you could run the compo using " bootprog.zip" this will boot a com or mz exe file from the floppy just by puting it on the disk, that way the entrys could be run from the floppy or dos.
Look forward to next compo Smile .

ps: bootprog is available here: http://alexfru.chat.ru/epm.html

Can some one confirm that the winner
" NanoOS v2.1 by Viktor Peter Kovacs"
of the 512b compo was a member of the forum, as i can not find his name on the members list ? Shocked.
I may of just of mist it ?.
The rules say you need to be a member of the fasm forum on or before the end of the compo.
