That feel when you want to do something useful, but instead search for music for 4 hours.

That feel when you spend 200$ on a videocard, but only play 2d games. Well, I bought it for blender and unity too, just didn't got to it yet.

I remember I hated first game, but I grown to like it eventually. I like the plot and how unlinear it is, you are actually exploring the city, you are actually infiltrating an airport/military base, defusing bombs underwater, searching for technodrome in underground caves, and technodrome itself is a giant deathtrap, ending with a corridor parade of 20 hardest ingame enemies one after another. Alien technologies and mutants, avoiding enemies when possible, searching for a correct path, not fighting enemies in open field when you can be outnumbered/shot from a distance. The reason I disliked it though, is because it looks like shit, plays like shit, and levels are build to demonstrate game engine's bugs (step through 1 square, but jump through 2).

Second and third game are, just mash buttons and maybe you'll not die, I never understood those games. I still don't know how I'm supposed to play those.

I registered this account about 2 months after my morrowind period, I needed to make up some short easy to type nickname, and vivik popped up in mind. Week later I remembered that it's the name of one of "gods" from that game.

there are a few more versions of this songs. Search on fansites, they should host old beta music files. Pixel is awesome, he made his own music format for his game, and his own tracker. By the way, meltdown is the least favorite theme in the entire game, but it's beta version is amasingly upbeat. I guess that it just got really annoying really quickly, which is why he changed it so much.

can't get rid of this feeling, that i know about this only because one fag thought its name was funny. That shouldn't be the reason for filtering. It's a really good album. One of the tracks is actually reversed, you can see both versions on nicovideo.

Youtube is a weird place. One can only speak, and other can only listen. There are comments, but what if you don't know the language good enough? Well, you can copypaste other comments between videos, if you are that much of a dick.

I'm breaking connections way too easily. Who cares, there are billions of you anyway. Many of those millions think somewhat like that too.

I rarely, rarely watch videos that ain't at least 2 years old. After this time, commenting is pretty pointless. (it was more about nicovideo actually, i just can't comment there. Which is for the best, really. The feeling of getting on some god forgotten live stream, being one of like 3 viewers, sometimes the only viewer, and not being able to say/respond to anything. 美少女万華鏡 -罪と罰の少女 has crazy pacing at the beginning. So much is happening. These games are often slow as a turtle, but this one. I barely launched this one though, not enough time.

I wish there was a way to show all 6 pages on one, so that I could ctrl-f for some topic, to see if I talked about it yet or not.

rigurui was quite good, I can see it took a long time to make. It took even longer time for me to read. Maybe I should try translating this game, I don't think it's translated even in english. At least inserting text back in the game, I'm sure there are better translators than me.

have a 3:4 monitor, modern games use 16:9 aspect ratio, the "register windows please" watermark doesn't cover anything important.

Always baffles me why games use hardcoded resolutions or aspect ratios in this day and age. I can understand it for 2D games but... seriously.

16:9 is pretty nice but only if you have a large monitor so that vertical space is not lost. Replacing a decently sized 4:3 monitor with a 16:9 should only be done if the 16:9 has the same or more height, but much more width.

I cannot stand tiny 16:9 screens, makes you feel claustrophobic.

witcher 3 technically can be played on 4:3, but main character will cover the entire left half of the screen. Best way to play it is windowed mode and 16:9, at least you can see what's to your left. I didn't get that problem with witcher 1, but some people on youtube complained that "icons are too small", the total opposite of mine. (also why can't you look up or down in witcher 3?)

at least undertale is still 4:3, that warms me up. Also doom 4 is playable in 4:3.

I need to read the list of human hormones. I wanted to know how many emotions are there, and this seems to be the best way to figure this out. I prefer to sort videos by emotions.

Are you sure you can put equality sign between hormones and emotions? Isn’t sorting videos by emotions the same as sorting text files by letters?

Well, I found one video fragment from "Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai", where in the game she hears "I love you" from little sister, and she like, stands from computer, drops on bed, and starts hugging the fuck out of her pillow while giggling. I was like "what is this human doing, how this emotion is called? Let's make a word for this if there isn't one.". And the most useful answer was "Oxytocin".

So, I'm pretty sure hormones > emotions, at least in english language. English vocabulary is quite limited here.

You kind of want to sort videos by emotions, especially if they are short and if you have to watch multiple in a row. If you get many of the opposite effects, instead of many that move you in the same direction, they may neutralise each other. Though, one of the best works actually did exactly that, it pulled a different nerve every second. It was called "ganbare, kogasa-chan" https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/597037?pool_id=1314 , you wouldn't get many jokes if you ain't a weeb though. The https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4-t6bmh4Uc "The News Hasn't Happened Yet" has somewhat simular effect, though it's like only two emotions, and there is only one big shift.

Markiplier's "try to not laugh" compilations are a good illustration. If you just watch one "funnies", it's meh. But if they keep coming, you will eventually crack down. I'm not sure how well different emotions work together, I'm sure movie makers study this.

(By the way, I managed to pass this challenge, secret is to actively hate everything about everything in those videos. Like, keep constantly saying "what kind of scumbag filmed this, he broke a phone for no good reason, why this shithead uploaded somebody getting hurt on the internet, this asshole just streams himself playing videogames all day?, they just laugh at somebody getting attacked instead of at least putting a warning sign or something?, this baby's first video edit is supposed to be impressive, you're wasting my time", etc. It's surprisingly easy if you do this. But I can't call this pleasant.)

This bad trait, of making a tiny bit of progress, and then doing nothing for a month. Last time I did something useful was at 07 Oct. Now I have a day and a half all for myself.

TODO
-compile gallery
---text editor
---firefox extension binary data format (not on this week, I think)

On the old computer I used emacs, heavily customised for myself. But on this one, I'd like to use my own. I gave up on trying to understand emacs' source code, I'm not smart enough. Although I say "text editor", my emacs has a feature that turns it into a primitive version of wiki or browser. If text under the cursor is a file name, and I press ";", it will switch to that file. And "p" "n" go back and forward, like in browser. Default emacs controls, and default vim controls, are utter shit, but if you use emacs with a heavily modified evil (vim controls), you can greatly simplify them. My controls now are just a little bit more complex than notepad, and you almost never have to press ctrl for anything.

maybe i should listen to aphex twin today, maybe it will help me concentrate, keep me from getting bored.

microsoft doesn't have a direct3d9 project in visual studio 2017.

maybe the reason this thread is so active right now is because I don't have a good text editor here. It's easier to keep stuff here, it's synchronized between both computers at all times.

Remember that artist, that drew those creepy paranormal cats? They said things like "feed us, human", or "we watch you sleep, human", and in general were damn creepy while still being stupid cats. What was his name...

Of course you don't, because there are millions of them.

I watched "todd in the shadows" review "maniac" and "i took a pill in ibiza", he's surprisingly good. A bit of a dick, but he knows his shit, and it's ok as long as it's funny. He's from nostalgia critic's crew, it's to be expected. Why I never heard of him before? Because I live under a rock, that's why.

I want to read ranobe of Haruhi in japanese. There was a character, Yuki, that barely talked and replied in a few words, yet at one point she dropped such a massive amount of explanation on the main character. It's a genre that is simplified for dumb schoolboys to read and enjoy, the main character is just called by his nickname Kyon just so it's easy to remember, and she probably dropped like 6 pages of really hardcore technobabble text in that scene. I so want to see how it's done in the original. But later, everything japanese has lower priority than making an actual gui app, because gui will simplify those tasks a lot. I still can't make a gui app, it's so embarassing.

How to download those 10 hours long videos from youtube

c:/shared/text/TEMP/YOUTUBE-DL.txt

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2r-YJwEdNzM

youtube-dl --no-part --format bestvideo 2r-YJwEdNzM

youtube-dl --no-part --format bestaudio 2r-YJwEdNzM

ctrl-c at some point to stop downloading, though it may not work on windows 10, not sure. You don't really want all 10 hours, do you? It's usually just 30 seconds in a loop anyway, because everyone is too dumb to loop audio and video nowadays, hardest technical task 2018.

If you have somefile.mp4 with only video and somefile.m4a with only audio, mpc-hc (it is autoinstalled with k-lite mega codec pack) will play both video and audio as if they are in the same file.

I wish I knew how to loop these videos ad infinitum. What I've seen in games like undertale (and probably others made with game maker), they keep 2 ogg files, one for pre loop part, and one for the actual loop. Other games just do "seek to 0:28" every time, which probably isn't as effective ( i told somewhere in this thread how ogg seeking is done, didn't i ?). I have this idea of ideal audio looping, so that decoder's state at entering the loop and decoder's state at repeating the loop are either indentical, or introduce only innoticeable audio distortion. The easy way is to just store the entire state at entering the loop, and then load this state back at looping. But I wish there was an encoder, that could make it so that state will actually repeat naturally. Audio codecs like mp3 aac ogg opus require a little bit of audio at the beginning to not be played, they are decoded but not actually sent to the listener, it's like 1200 samples or something, so, 1/40 of a second, no big deal. And opus is made so that it needs a little big of samples wasted if playback starts at the beginning of a file, but 4 times more if playback is started from the middle or at any other random position, so it's also a thing to consider while looping audio.

I'll play with this when I'll compile mpc-hc, now I actually can do that. Need to find what api it uses to play videos, windows provide one (and linux like 4 different for some reason) api for decoding videos, and it probably uses videocard for video decoding. You don't really need that for anything that isn't highres, but why not?

You know what? I'll just keep this giant wav on my hdd and in my memory while loop is playing, I can afford that for now. Who cares about compression, lol.

Video looping, the "ideal repeating of state" is possible here too, but more unlikely. Videos nowadays use keyframes quite often anyway, so, probably should just make the loop's starting point a keyframe. The "make copy of state" is possible too.

Let me download audacity real quick...

https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_installing_the_ffmpeg_import_export_library.html

https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_editing.html#stereomono

um, mpc-hc can't play audio loops well. Will I have to open audacity every time?

How to stop windows from creating thumbs.db

Let's try this

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/fbc49141-96b3-4350-870a-5b74dcf59c20/how-to-disable-thumbsdb-files-generation-on-network-folders?forum=itprovistadeployment

I know there is some registry option, but I forgot where I wrote this down. I don't know .db internal structure, so I'd rather not use them.

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-files-winpc/disable-windows-10-thumbnail-cache/ed8f5acf-861b-452d-b042-8f2ff8bb26d4

ugh, windows 10, why you do this to me

i guess i should make my own file manager too, lol

eh, I'll just disable thumbnails entirely for now, no big deal.

Okay, now everything that interests me will be in

C:\shared\src\_gui\gallery-direct3d9

and

C:\shared\src\_gui\gallery-direct3d9-wip

First is what I actually used, second is just a new winapi project from visual studio 2017. I'd like to see if those precompiled headers are a real deal.

shared folder means it's shared between computers, and I keep them more or less indentical.

I need to make a list of things to buy and people to donate to. I'm not quite ready to spend money yet, but let's create a list now.

The problem with donations, is I don't really know how many people are donating to them already. I probably should donate to somebody who gets the least amount of donations, it will have more impact.

hm, maybe yarxi, wikipedia, firefox.

gorillaz storyboard and animatic stuff is very interesting, things make more sense there. The "dare" especially. It's sad when things on paper look complitely different when finished. But people will swallow anything, so who cares.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPC0n_ml4kc

They do have gorillaz-like profiles, ain't they? Animu has cat-like profiles, but with gorillaz, mouth goes forward a lot. Side effect of having crazy big smiles probably.
