Hi, I'm tryibg to write a roguelike game (a graphitextual RPG that uses letters to represent objects rather than graphics). One major part of this is being able to output a given character of a given color to a specific spot on the screen (in a console-type window or in DOS). In other languages there is the equivalent of a Curses library, which was originally devolped on UNIX, and since then has been ported to most every language. Does anybody know of a library like this, or at the very least could tell me how to control where characters are outputted?

Why not just use the curses library? While i have never used it, i have seen bindings to the windows api, the C standard library and Direct X for this assembler.

Are you using*Nix or windows?

I'm using Windows

use cygwin then - it's basically a way to let *nix code run in windows (well more or less) - I'd say it's easier to move to linux
