The embedded videos on fasmcon site no longer work - they were using Google Video player, perhaps the YouTube embedding should be now used instead, as the videos appear to have been migrated to YouTube.

We also have the videos from fasmcon 2009 that were never presented on that site. Maybe we could upload them to YouTube as well, and then embed everything.

Does any of you have enough experience with YouTube to help with this?

As long as the videos are available in YouTube, embedding should be fine.
I use YouTube embedding quite often for blog posts.

I don't see much appeal in using Google Drive over YouTube as YT has virtually no upload limit.

Most people won't be able to download the video from YouTube. That is one major difference.

But however why must there only be one option chosen? Perhaps all of the reasonable options can be made available.

Just do a google search with the keywords "youtube to mp3, mp4" and you will find lots of free online tools to get the job done. You can even choose to convert/download only part of the video.

Yeah, but it it not nice to have to involve a third (fourth?) party. And some companies explicitly forbid such actions.

But, placing them in multiple places solve the problem, then the users can choose how they wish receive them.

Embedding a video from youtube is as easy as:
Code:
<iframe width="853" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/%ID%"></iframe>

where %ID% is to be replaced by the video ID (watch?v=%ID%).

As for downloading, there are plenty of shady youtube download services, don't use them.
Use open source programs such as youtube-dl for downloading, and VLC for watching directly.

I would be happy to meet with some fasm's forum members again, but I am not up to organizing anything more serious and conference-like.
