Guys, I need this too. Maybe not for d3d9, but even for d3d8, since that's what Warcraft III uses. It's kind of hard to find a good info for that, to the point that half of examples from some very old DirectX SDK I managed to find in one stackoverflow question refused to run on my computer.
It probably wouldn't matter that much, since I can just use OpenGL for graphics and winmm.dll or something for sound, but... Or using OpenAL for sound, but I'm not sure how popular this library is. Is it installed on 100% of computers, on 60%, 25%, 2%? No I can't help you. What's this "old mode 13h" by the way? |

Mode 13h - 320x200 resolution and 256 colors. Many graphic stuff (games, demos) use this mode in DOS days.
