I would like to defragment my NTFS partition (XP) but I assume that it would cause problems with my Linux partitions since ext3 partition do not need to be defragged.

Can I copy my C: NTFS partition to another empty partition and then move them back under Linux and still be able to boot into Windows successfully ?

Or do the copying under Windows ?

Defragging a partition won't affect other partitions that exist on the same disk. XP won't touch the other partitions.
