You need to give more memory to fasm when you assemble something like that. fasm needs to allocate all that space (16MB) internally.

Also if you put initialised data or code after your 16MB fixed allocation then you will have a very huge and bloated exe file.

yeah, I am aware of that. I think codebase's example is just for illustrative purpose.
